Title
Red & Black Quilt
Cassandra was heading away to college in the summer of 1995. She finally decided on a red and black color scheme, but still hadn't made up her mind what quilt pattern she liked. Since she has trouble cutting a straight line with scissors, and is even more dangerous with a rotary cutter---
Mom and Cassandra's friends simply cut stacks of blocks from every red and black fabric in Carol's stash. Then Cassandra and her friends laid out the squares on the floor and everyone (but mostly Carol and Cassandra) began sewing them together. Of course, in the process, a number of the blocks migrated, until they formed their own abstract design.

Finally, the large top made it to the quilt frame where Carol, Cassandra, and occasionally one of her friends hand quilted it in time for the trip to college.

But, there were so many blocks cut! Later, Carol made a second, smaller throw quilt to go with the first, and several pillows-and there are still a few blocks left over…

Red & Black Quilt
And now Cassandra favors forest green!
