Orange must have been a favorite color of Great-grandmother Marilla, as I find it in so many of her quilts. In this top she used an orange dots on white fabric (possibly feed sacks) for the background. Ever the frugal farm wife, she hand pieced several of the 2" squares from smaller scraps-although the top is otherwise machine sewn.
